Doha: The Ministry of Communications and Information technology (MCIT) has announced a new initiative to train government and semi-government employees on Microsoft Copilot, an AI-based tool designed to enhance workflow and productivity.

This initiative aims to improve government services through efficient use of the program.

MCIT hosted an introductory session titled“Empowering the Future with Artificial Intelligence” on February 3, 2025.

The session, attended by 18 managers from 9 government entities, highlighted Microsoft Copilot's role in improving institutional productivity through AI technologies.

Sami Al Shammari, Assistant Undersecretary for Infrastructure and Operations Affairs at MCIT, stated:“This training program represents an important step towards digital transformation in the government sector by building national cadres capable of adopting AI technologies. Providing this training ensures maximum benefit from Microsoft Copilot solutions, contributing to enhanced operational efficiency and a more innovative work environment.”

The first workshop of this initiative was conducted in collaboration with Microsoft at Qatar Digital Academy.

Representatives from nine government entities learned how to leverage Microsoft Copilot for improved job performance and institutional operations.

Upon completing an intensive training program, participants from information systems departments and relevant units received Microsoft Copilot licenses, aligning with MCIT's commitment to developing national cadres under the Digital Agenda 2030.

The training program addressed several key areas: benefits of Microsoft Copilot in developing job skills, methods for increasing operational efficiency, innovative solutions for productivity improvement, automation of routine tasks, data analysis for strategic decision-making, and enhancement of institutional user experience.

This initiative, part of the Digital Agenda 2030 framework, is expected to significantly boost innovation and government performance, aligning with global trends in AI technology adoption for advanced and effective work environments.
