Russia Announces Capture of Two More Settlements in Eastern Ukraine

(MENAFN) On Wednesday, Russia stated that its forces had seized control of two additional settlements in their ongoing military offensive in eastern Ukraine.

A statement from the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that the village of Novomlynsk, located approximately 21 kilometers (13 miles) northeast of Kupiansk, a major area of focus in Moscow's offensive in the northeastern Kharkiv region, had been captured.

The statement also mentioned the capture of Baranivka, situated about 26 kilometers (16.1 miles) east of Pokrovsk, a significant site in Moscow's campaign in the Donetsk region.
In recent months, Russia has ordinarily reported territorial gains, especially in the region of Donetsk, where fighting has escalated around Pokrovsk.

This city is a crucial logistical center for Ukraine's forces in the region, which lies next to Russia.
Ukrainian officials have not yet responded to Russia's claim, and independent verification remains challenging because of the ongoing conflict, which will reach its third year later this month.
