Qatar Reads Organises New-Look 'Parents To Be Festival'

Doha, Qatar: Mothers, fathers, and expectant families are invited to Qatar Reads' new-look“Parents to Be Festival” to learn more about pregnancy and parenting from local experts.

Now in its fourth consecutive year, the festival is held by Qatar Reads under the auspices of Qatar National Library and reflects its commitment to supporting families and fostering community culture around parenting and childhood.

Formerly known as the“Mommy to Be Festival”, this year's edition presents a fresh new look. The festival, designed for mothers and fathers, will take place on 13 – 15 February 2025 at Qatar National Library. Its primary goal is to provide an educational and interactive environment, bringing together experts and families to equip participants with the knowledge and tools needed to learn about the stages of pregnancy, childbirth, and parenting. This will be complemented with a family market and a children's activities area.

Fatema Al Malki, Project Manager of Qatar Reads, emphasized the importance of the event, stating:“The 'Parents to Be Festival' offers a golden opportunity for expectant parents to gain practical knowledge that will help them navigate the many challenges they may face during pregnancy, childbirth, and child-rearing.

“We are committed to offering specialised workshops and scientific lectures, supervised by a select group of experts, for everyone's benefit.”

The festival serves as a comprehensive platform and an educational opportunity, offering participants the chance to attend lectures and hands-on workshops presented by specialists in various family-related fields. Visitors can also receive one-on-one consultations with professionals from prominent institutions, such as Hamad General Hospital, Sidra Medicine, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Qatar National Library, and Al Ahli Hospital.

The festival's activities are not limited to lectures and workshops; other participating organizations include the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Social Development and Family, which will offer participants the chance to learn about the latest initiatives and services related to family well-being.

The festival's family market will feature approximately 15 vendors, focusing on books, educational products, and family activities. Visitors will find everything from breastfeeding supplies to educational toys, presented by renowned libraries and shops. The activities space will offer children the chance to enjoy arts, crafts, and storytelling, while parents benefit from the diverse sessions.

The Parents to Be Festival represents a unique opportunity for the local community, to extend support to families during one of the most significant stages of their lives.

The event will take place at Qatar National Library. On February 13 and 14 it will be open from 4pm to 8pm, and on Saturday, February 15 from 11am to 8pm.
