Aspire Academy Student-Athletes Praise Cybersecurity Awareness Lecture
Doha, Qatar: Aspire Academy student-athletes praised a lecture on cybersecurity as they learnt how to safeguard their personal data and navigate the Internet securely.
The talk was given in partnership with Qatar's National Cybersecurity Agency under its“CyberEco” initiative.
The session was delivered to middle school student-athletes and featured an interactive Q&A segment, allowing them to explore key cybersecurity concepts in greater depth.
Topics covered included identifying and avoiding phishing scams, preventing internet fraud, and recognising common online security mistakes.
Student-athlete Khalid Al Anazi explained how he had benefited from the lecture:
“Today's cybersecurity lecture provided crucial insights into safe Internet browsing practices. We learned that vigilance is key when navigating the web - every website should be carefully assessed before interaction. Even if a trusted friend or family member shares a link, it's essential to verify its legitimacy independently.”
The National Cybersecurity Agency's Waled Al Hajaji, one of the event organisers, outlined the lecture's mission.“Our goal in presenting this workshop at Aspire Academy is to equip students with fundamental cybersecurity awareness.
“The digital world presents ever-evolving risks that can impact individuals and organisations alike. By developing a solid understanding of cyber threats and learning essential self-protection strategies, these young minds will be better prepared to navigate today's digital landscape securely.”
Student Affairs Services Manager Abdul Aziz Al Jedaia stressed the importance of continuously keeping student-athletes up to date with cybersecurity.
“With technology evolving at an unprecedented pace, it is vital that our students cultivate strong cybersecurity awareness to engage with the digital world safely and responsibly. At Aspire Academy, we are committed to providing them with the knowledge and tools necessary to protect themselves online, fostering a culture of digital responsibility and security among our student-athletes,” he said.
By hosting this cybersecurity lecture, Aspire Academy reinforces its dedication to equipping students with the critical life skills they need to succeed in sports and various professional fields.
