Musk strongly advices astronauts to head Mars investigation

(MENAFN) Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX, has urged for astronauts to be sent to Mars to investigate a mysterious square-shaped structure observed on the planet’s surface. The structure, which was originally captured by NASA’s Mars Global Surveyor in November 2001, recently went viral after podcast host Joe Rogan shared images of it. Musk responded to the post on X, suggesting that sending astronauts to Mars would be the best way to investigate the peculiar formation.

The square-like structure has generated a variety of speculations, with some suggesting it could be of artificial origin. However, similar anomalies on Mars, like the “Face on Mars” in the Cydonia region, were later determined to be natural formations after higher-resolution imaging. Musk's call for exploration reflects his broader goal of making humanity a multiplanetary species.

SpaceX has been developing its Starship spacecraft, which aims to carry both crew and cargo to destinations like Mars. Musk has previously set ambitious goals, including uncrewed Starships landing on Mars within two years and crewed missions to the Red Planet in four years. His long-term vision includes sending a million people to Mars by 2050 and establishing a new society on the planet.
