General Staff: 53 Combat Clashes Since Start Of Day, Fighting Continues In Three Sectors

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Since the beginning of the day, there have been 53 combat engagements between the Ukrainian Defense Forces and Russian troops. Fighting is ongoing in three frontline sectors, with the Pokrovsk areas remaining the hottest.

The General Staff of the armed forces of Ukraine said this in a situation update as of 16:00 on Monday, February 3, Ukrinform reports.

“Russian invaders continue to storm the positions of Ukrainian defenders. In total, 53 combat engagements have taken place since the beginning of the day,” the report says.

According to the General Staff, Russian forces continue to shell border settlements in the Chernihiv region. In particular, Oleksandrivka, Hirky, Turia, Popivka, Bratenytsia, Novovasylivka, Bila Bereza in Sumy region and Bohdanove came under strikes.

In the Kharkiv sector, the enemy conducted airstrikes on Baranivka and Bochkove.

In the Kupiansk sector, the enemy stormed the Ukrainian positions seven times in the areas of Petropavlivka, Pishchane and Zahryzove. The Ukrainian defenders repelled six enemy attacks, and one more combat engagement is currently underway.

In the Lyman sector, the Russian army attacked twice near Terny. One combat clash is still ongoing.

In the Siversk sector, the enemy attacked the settlements of Siversk and Zakitne with guided aerial bombs.

In the Kramatorsk sector, the Ukrainian defenders repelled one attempt by the occupiers to advance in the area of Chasiv Yar.

The enemy actively used bomber aircraft in the Toretsk sector, attacking nine times in the vicinity of Krymske, Toretsk and Shcherbynivka.

In the Pokrovsk sector , since the beginning of the day, the occupiers have made 25 attempts to dislodge Ukrainian defenders from their positions near Malynivka, Novopoltavka, Zelene Pole, Tarasivka, Myroliubivka, Yelyzavetivka, Promin, Lysivka, Udachne, Nadiivka, Uspenivka, Novooleksandrivka and Dachne. The defense forces are thwarting the enemy's advance and have repelled 14 attacks, with 11 ongoing combat clashes. The enemy has launched airstrikes in the vicinity of Oleksandrivka, dropping three glide bombs.

In the Novopavlivka sector, the enemy attacked four times near Kostiantynopil, Rozdolne and Novyi Komar.

In the Huliaipole sector , the occupiers launched two attacks on Ukrainian positions near Novosilka, but were unsuccessful.

In the Orikhiv sector, the enemy made two attempts to advance toward Novodanylivka and Shcherbaky. These attempts were unsuccessful.

In the Prydniprovia sector , Russian forces attempted to storm Ukrainian positions near Antonivka and Prydniprovske on four occasions, but were unsuccessful.

In the Kursk region, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled five enemy attacks. Additionally, the enemy launched 26 airstrikes, deploying 37 glide bombs, and conducted 89 artillery attacks.

In other areas of the front, the situation has not changed significantly.
