North Korea condemns US Secretary of State’s remarks

(MENAFN) North Korea strongly criticized US Secretary of State Marco Rubio after he referred to the country as a "rogue state," pledging to take "tough counteraction" against any future provocations from the United States. This marked the first official condemnation of the trump administration by Pyongyang, with state media reporting on the country's harsh response. North Korea denounced Rubio's statement, calling it a "grave Political provocation" that tarnished the image of a sovereign nation.

A spokesperson from North Korea's Foreign Ministry issued a statement after Rubio made the comments in a recent interview, where he included both North Korea and Iran in his list of rogue states. The North Korean response called Rubio’s claims “absurd and illogical,” pointing out the irony of the US, which it described as "the most depraved state in the world," labeling another country in such a way.

The statement further emphasized that Rubio's remarks reaffirmed the United States’ ongoing hostile stance toward North Korea. It stated that the US's policy of hostility will not change, and North Korea will continue to respond with tough countermeasures to any future provocations.

Despite the escalating tensions, President Trump has expressed his intention to re-engage diplomatically with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, but Pyongyang has yet to offer a response to this overture.
