Iran inaugurates industrial projects for economic growth

(MENAFN) The Iranian Minister of Industry, Mining, and Trade, Seyed Mohammad Atabak, announced the inauguration of 420 new industrial projects as part of the Ten-Day Dawn, which runs from January 31 to February 10, celebrating the 45th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution. Atabak highlighted that one of the key achievements of these projects is the creation of 34,000 new jobs, which will have a positive impact on the country’s economy. The announcement was made during a meeting of the Ministry’s deputies council, attended by Mohammad Reza Aref, the First Vice President, to discuss the state of the industry, mining, and trade sectors.

During the meeting, Atabak reported on the performance of the ministry’s deputies, addressing several challenges within the industrial sector. He singled out energy imbalance as a significant issue affecting production levels across various industries. Despite this challenge, Atabak acknowledged the efforts of producers and industry workers who have managed to minimize product shortages in the market.

The minister also discussed ongoing restrictions in the gas supply to steel production units. He revealed that at certain points, quotas for these units have been reduced, which has had a negative impact on the steel industry’s production records.

Atabak further explained that the energy imbalance has contributed to a decline in the growth of mining industries. However, he pointed out that production had increased in specific areas, such as copper cathodes and alumina. On the other hand, industries like steel, cement, and coal concentrate have shown a downward trend in production growth.
