The European Union's civilian Border Assistance Mission for the Rafah Crossing Point ( EUBAM Rafah ) was redeployed on Friday at the request of both Palestinian and Israeli authorities, in coordination with Egypt and in accordance with the 2005 Agreement on Movement and Access (AMA).

The reopening of the Rafah Crossing Point (RCP) marks a critical step in facilitating movement in and out of Gaza. A specialized EU team has been deployed to assist Palestinian personnel in resuming operations at the crossing, enabling the transfer of individuals, including those in urgent need of medical treatment. EUBAM Rafah personnel are monitoring the process to ensure a smooth and secure transition.

According to the agreement, the mission's presence at the RCP will continue until the conclusion of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement.

"The redeployment of EUBAM Rafah demonstrates the European Union's commitment to supporting the ceasefire and stabilizing the region," an EU spokesperson said.“This is a positive step that underscores the EU's readiness to assist where needed.”

EUBAM Rafah, originally established in 2005 , has periodically been involved in border management at the Rafah Crossing, playing a role in facilitating access and monitoring compliance with international agreements.
