Spain Sends Team Help Manage Rafah Border Crossing


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MADRID, Jan 31 (KUNA) -- Spain announced on Friday it will send a team from the Civil Guard to Palestine to support the European mission at the Rafah border crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt.
This team will include 10 members, eight security specialists, and two border management experts joining the two Spanish personnel already deployed, for a total of 12.
The European mission, which resumes after more than 18 years, aims to evacuate the wounded and protect individuals during humanitarian emergencies, responding to requests from both Palestinian and Israeli authorities.
Kaya Kallas, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, emphasized that the mission will facilitate medical assistance for those in Gaza.
Meanwhile, health authorities in Gaza announced the Rafah crossing will open tomorrow for the first group of 50 injured Palestinians seeking medical treatment outside the Strip. (end)
