Azerbaijan, Qatar Moot Political And Economic Issues


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 27. The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Yalchin Rafiyev visited the State of Qatar for official talks on January 26, Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) told Trend .

According to the ministry, the visit included the 5th round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of Azerbaijan and Qatar.

The talks were led by Yalchin Rafiyev on behalf of Azerbaijan and by Qatar's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sultan bin Saad bin Sultan Al Muraikhi.

During the consultations, the two sides discussed bilateral political and economic issues, as well as cooperation within the framework of the United Nations (UN), the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), and other international organizations. The discussions also covered regional and global matters of mutual interest, focusing on trade, investment, agriculture, tourism, education, and other sectors of cooperation.

As part of the visit, Deputy Minister Rafiyev met with Qatar's Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Sayed. The two officials emphasized the importance of holding the next session of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission between Azerbaijan and Qatar as soon as possible. They also highlighted the need to organize mutual trade missions and business forums.

Additionally, during his visit to Doha, Rafiyev visited the Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies (CHS), where he met with the Director of CHS, Ghassan Elkahlout, and experts. They exchanged views on Azerbaijan's foreign policy, as well as developments in the South Caucasus and the Middle East regions.

Rafiyev also met with the leadership, faculty, and students of the Center for International and Regional Studies (CIRS) at Georgetown University in Qatar. During this meeting, he informed the audience about Azerbaijan's foreign policy priorities, the country's perspectives on regional and global issues, as well as the post-conflict situation between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the normalization process, and the ongoing reconstruction efforts in the areas liberated from occupation. He also answered questions from the participants.
