ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 12. Kazakhstan is
striving to strengthen friendly ties and mutually beneficial
bilateral cooperation with Guinea-Bissau, said President Tokayev
during his meeting with the President of Guinea-Bissau, Trend
reports.
On the margins of the 29th UN Climate Change Conference, the
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with the
President of Guinea-Bissau, Oumaru Sisoku Embalo.
The President called Guinea-Bissau one of Kazakhstan's
significant partners on the African continent.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that Kazakhstan is an open country,
adhering to a peace-loving policy and having the largest economy in
the region. He emphasized that the two countries have good
prospects for partnership.
Despite their geographic distance, Kazakhstan and Guinea-Bissau
can develop cooperation in agriculture, logistics, and information
and communication technologies, Tokayev said.
In turn, Umaru Sisoku Embalo expressed gratitude to the
President of Kazakhstan for the opportunity to discuss the
development of bilateral relations.
In conclusion, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev invited President Umaru
Sisoku Embalo to pay an official visit to Kazakhstan at a time
convenient for him.
To note, the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to
the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), which will
run until November 22, opened on November 11 at the Baku Olympic
Stadium.
The event is the largest organized by Azerbaijan to date and is
the first time the region has hosted the event in Azerbaijan.
Within COP29, the highest-level event - the summit of world leaders
on climate action - will be held on November 12–13.
The main expectation from COP29 is to agree on a fair and
ambitious New Collective Quantitative Goal (NCQG) on climate
finance. The COP29 chairmanship has launched 14 initiatives that
include linkages between climate action and the Sustainable
Development Goals, including green energy corridors, green energy
storage, harmony for climate resilience, clean hydrogen, methane
reduction in organic waste, action on green digital technologies,
and other topics.
