“We are successfully continuing the strategy of accelerated development of the domestic oil and gas industry and its integration into the international energy infrastructure,” the head of state said.
Berdimuhamedov mentioned that in 2024, the construction of new processing complexes for oil and gas, as well as the improvement of geological exploration, are key areas.
He also emphasized the importance of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project along the Serhetabat-Herat route, as well as laying major energy and transport and communication infrastructure.
“The commencement of laying the main section of the TAPI gas pipeline testifies to the consistent strengthening of good relations between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan,” the President added.
To note, the TAPI pipeline is a large-scale project designed to transport natural gas from Turkmenistan through Afghanistan and Pakistan to India. Construction of the project, designed for the annual delivery of 33 bcm of gas, began in Turkmenistan on December 13, 2015.
Turkmenistan is a major gas supplier and plays a key role in the development of the pipeline to diversify energy export routes and strengthen regional economic ties.
