EU To Provide Financial Support To Green Energy Corridor Projects From S. Caucasus - European Commissioner

(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 18. The EU will provide financial and technical support for the implementation of projects of green energy corridors from the South Caucasus and Central Asia, the EU Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi said in his online address to the participants of the 12th Caspian Energy Forum in Baku, Trend reports.

The European Commissioner noted the important role of the South Caucasus and Central Asia region in the implementation of energy and transport corridors of key importance for the EU.

“The EU will provide financial and technical support for the implementation of projects of green energy corridors from these regions, as well as the implementation of the Middle Corridor within the framework of the EU TEN-T strategy,” he said.

He emphasized the importance of increasing the supply of Azerbaijani gas to Europe, taking into account the reduction of gas supplies from Russia.

Várhelyi expressed high expectations related to COP29 in Baku in November, as this climate summit will help make progress on clean renewable energy projects.
