BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 12. Following the
establishment of“Environmental Protection First” Coalition, a
report was prepared and made public by the Republic of Armenia in
more than 20 locations together with diplomatic representatives
accredited in Azerbaijan and mass media based on satellite images
of Armenian industrial enterprises extracting various non-ferrous
and ferrous metals in the territories adjacent to the regions
bordering Azerbaijan, Co-founder of“Environmental Protection
first” Coalition Amin Mammadov said during his speech at a media
briefing, Trend
reports.
He pointed out that the Environmental Protection First Coalition
has been at it for a year now.
“The Coalition is closely monitoring the environmental damage
caused to the environment of the Caucasus by the mining enterprises
operating in the territory of Armenia during the last year. The
Coalition's member organizations have been actively working in this
direction.
The coalition, founded in the summer of 2023, first began its
activities by protesting Armenia's plans to build a metallurgical
plant in Arazdeyan on the border with Nakhchivan. As a result of
these activities, the construction of the plant, projected with
funding from foreign investors, was suspended. The solidarity and
protest of NGOs operating in Azerbaijan played their role,” he
added.
