Uzbekistan, Qatar Joining Forces To Set Up Goods Distribution Hub Via Hamad Port


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, September 5. Uzbekistan and Qatar discussed the establishment of a center for distribution of Uzbek products in the Persian Gulf countries through the port of Hamad (Qatar), Trend reports.

The matter was reviewed during a meeting between Chairman of Uzbekistan's Chamber of Commerce and industry Davron Vakhabov with the board member of Qatar's Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ali Bin Abdullatif Al Misned, and First Secretary of Qatar's Embassy in Uzbekistan Fahad Ali Al-Hammadi.

During the meeting, the parties noted that Qatar Airways will actively participate in the above mentioned project to organize cargo transportation.

In addition, the sides agreed to hold an Uzbek-Qatar business forum in October this year in the Namangan region (Uzbekistan) and the first meeting of the joint business council in Doha (Qatar) on November 11-12. The meeting will form the composition of the council and identify further steps to expand bilateral cooperation.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to strengthen economic connections, which should pave the way for further commerce and investment prospects between Qatar and Uzbekistan.

Meanwhile, in June 2023, as a result of the visit of the Emir of Qatar to Samarkand, the countries reached an agreement on the participation of leading Qatari companies in the implementation of investment projects in Uzbekistan with a total value of $12 billion.
