Uzbekistan, Russia Looking To Boost Their Trade Turnover Volume

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, September 4. Uzbekistan
and Russia aim to bring trade turnover volume up to $30 billion,
Trend reports.
The matter was reviewed during an online meeting between
Uzbekistan's Minister of Investment, industry and Trade Laziz
Kudratov and Russia's Minister of Economic Development Maxim
Reshetnikov.
During the meeting the sides noted that trade turnover between
both countries grew by 29.1 percent and amounted to $6.8 billion
from January through July this year. During this period, the growth
of exports to Russia was observed in 175 commodity positions.
Exports of 64 new commodity items worth $11.3 million have been
established.
The parties presented reports of relevant leaders in the spheres
of industry, energy, transport and agriculture, on the current
state of implementation of projects and agreements within the
framework of the joint action plan to increase mutual trade between
Uzbekistan and Russia 2024-2030.
Furthermore, the participants of the meeting discussed the
progress in opening a branch of the All-Russian Academy of Foreign
Trade in Tashkent and the work of the Expert Center for Strategic
Initiatives.
At the end of the meeting, the sides emphasized the commitment
to deepen cooperation and continue joint work in all areas of trade
development.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover volume with
Russia amounted to $6.8 billion from January through July 2024.
This figure has increased by 30.7 percent year-on-year ($5.2
billion in January–July 2023).
Russia ranked second among the countries with the largest volume
of foreign trade turnover in Uzbekistan. The country's share in the
total volume of trade turnover in Uzbekistan accounts for 18.5
percent.
