Azerbaijan's Democratic Reforms Party Addresses Nationwide Parliamentary Poll Results
"The election to the VII convocation of the Parliament of Azerbaijan much differed from previous election in the history of Azerbaijan's statehood. No previous election to the parliament was held throughout the country. Every step from the beginning of the electoral process to its end was taken in full accordance with the law, and free election was held in a Democratic environment favorable to the candidates.
Five candidates from the Democratic Reforms Party ran in the election, registering without any obstacles. Collecting voter signatures, conducting active campaign meetings with voters, and registering party members as observers in electoral districts were carried out in a fully free manner.
The safe environment created during the campaign was the primary guarantee of democratic and free election.
During the electoral campaign, both the OSCE election observation mission and the international observer mission of the Organization of Turkic States visited the headquarters of the Democratic Reforms Party to inquire about the electoral environment in the country and the conditions provided for the party's candidates.
The Party Chairman, Asim Mollazade, informed them about the party's election preparations, campaign, and promotional activities. He also answered guests' questions about the electoral process.
The Democratic Reforms Party monitored the election process with nine observers across the country and 3,360 observers in districts and polling stations. On election day, our joint observations with international observers confirmed that the election was conducted in an environment of lawful and free competition. Our party values the conditions created for the candidates' campaign as a demonstration of democracy and the assurance of freedom of expression.
We also congratulate other successful candidates, led by our party chairman, who received more votes than his competitors based on the preliminary election results announced by the Central Election Commission and the results of exit polls. We express our gratitude to the voters who placed their trust in us," the statement said.
The snap parliamentary election was held in Azerbaijan on September 1.
A total of 112,749 local observers have been registered, including over 65,000 representatives of political parties. There were 598 international observers from 51 organizations and 69 countries.
Among the 990 registered candidates, 305 represent 25 political parties, while 371 are party members but were not nominated by their parties. In total, 676 candidates are affiliated with political parties.
