(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 3. The Azerbaijani Army is kicking it up a notch with drills using state-of-the-art weapons and equipment, Deputy Minister of Defense - Commander of the Ground Forces, Lieutenant General Hikmat Mirzayev said, Trend reports.

He made the remark during today's board meeting on the results of the first half of 2024 at the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense.

The meeting, held under the leadership of the Minister of Defense, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, via video teleconference, was attended by deputies of the Defense Minister, commanders of types of troops (forces), chiefs of main departments, divisions, services, and independent branches, commanders of army corps and formations, as well as chiefs of special educational institutions.

Mirzayev briefed the meeting on steps to organize troops' duty and increase units' combat capacity.

The command structure is quite well organized, he said, including combat duties and other service and combat tasks.
