Government Approves 19 Research Projects In Technical Textiles Sector


(MENAFN- KNN India) New Delhi, Jul 31 (KNN) In a significant move to boost India's technical textiles industry, the Mission Steering Group, chaired by the Union Minister of Textiles, has greenlit 19 research projects valued at approximately INR 21 crore.

This decision, made during the 9th Mission Steering Group meeting, marks a crucial step forward for the National Technical Textiles Mission.

The approved projects span various strategic areas within the technical textiles field, including composites, geo textiles, smart textiles, and machinery development.

Leading research institutions such as the Indian Institute of Technology, National Institute of Technology, and the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research will spearhead these initiatives.

During the meeting, the Union Minister conducted a comprehensive review of the Mission's progress across multiple fronts. These included advancements in research and development, promotion and market development strategies, export promotion efforts, and initiatives in education, training, and skill development.

The minister also evaluated 27 applications from 16 public and 11 private institutes, previously approved for introducing technical textiles curricula, acquiring laboratory infrastructure, and training educators across various application areas.

Additionally, the review encompassed internship programs and skilling initiatives undertaken by the Ministry under the Mission's purview.

The high-profile meeting saw participation from key government figures and industry leaders. Attendees included a Member of NITI Aayog, the Principal Scientific Adviser, the Chairman of ISRO, and senior officials from various ministries and departments.

Representatives from the industry and relevant associations were also present, underlining the collaborative approach towards advancing India's technical textiles sector.

This latest development underscores the government's commitment to fostering innovation and growth in the technical textiles industry, positioning India as a global leader in this crucial sector.
