Russia demonstrates strategic military power through bomber sorties, massive naval exercises

(MENAFN) On Wednesday, Russia conducted a significant military operation involving two strategic Tu-95MS bombers that completed a planned sortie over international waters in the Sea of Japan. Accompanied by Su-35S and Su-30SM fighter jets, the bombers undertook a flight lasting over ten hours, during which they were occasionally shadowed by aircraft from other nations. This sortie highlights Russia's ongoing demonstration of its long-range strategic capabilities amid heightened global tensions.

In parallel, the Russian Navy has initiated a comprehensive naval exercise across multiple bodies of water, including the North Sea, the Pacific Ocean, the Baltic Sea, and the Caspian Sea. This extensive drill involves more than 300 naval vessels and over 20,000 sailors, and is set to feature up to 50 aircraft and helicopters. The exercise includes a variety of combat drills designed to test the Navy's readiness and operational effectiveness at all levels, including anti-aircraft missile, artillery, and anti-submarine warfare training.

The Defense Ministry has emphasized that the naval maneuvers will incorporate over 300 distinct combat exercises, aimed at enhancing the Russian Navy's capability to respond to various maritime threats. Among these drills are exercises designed to counter sea drones, underscoring the evolving nature of modern naval combat and Russia's commitment to maintaining robust defense capabilities.
