UAE, Chile ink comprehensive economic partnership deal


(MENAFN) On Monday, during the official visit of Chilean President Gabriel Boric Font to the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and President Boric witnessed the signing of a significant "Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement" between their two nations. The ceremony, held at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi, was conducted by Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade, and Alberto Van Klaveren, Chilean Minister of Foreign Affairs. This landmark agreement aims to enhance non-oil trade between the UAE and Chile by reducing or eliminating customs duties, removing trade barriers, and streamlining customs processes. It also seeks to foster new investment flows and cooperation, providing a platform for private sector partnerships on both sides.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan highlighted the UAE's commitment to forging development partnerships globally, emphasizing the country's belief in the importance of constructive international cooperation to ensure a prosperous future characterized by peace, stability, and growth. The President underscored the UAE’s strategic goal of expanding its network of trade and investment partners worldwide through its "Comprehensive Economic Agreements Program." This initiative is designed to diversify and sustainably grow the national economy over the long term. The agreement with Chile is seen as a vital step in this direction, promising to bolster economic growth on both sides by opening new opportunities for business communities and creating a dynamic trade and investment corridor with the economically promising South American continent.
