Ukraine To Receive $3.9B From United States In Coming Weeks PM Shmyhal

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) In the coming weeks, Ukraine expects to receive the first $3.9 billion in direct budget support from the United States, totaling $7.85 billion.

The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal on Telegram , following his meeting with U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine's Economic Recovery Penny Pritzker, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“We discussed the issues related to the work of the Multi-Agency Donor Coordination Platform. The financing of budget expenditures, recovery projects, and support for the energy sector are remaining our priorities. Ukraine is grateful for $7.85 billion in direct budget support, which is expected to come from the United States this year. We expect to receive the first $3.9 billion in the coming weeks,” Shmyhal wrote.

The Prime Minister thanked the United States for supporting the decision of the G7 countries to provide $50 billion to Ukraine at the expense of future proceeds from the frozen Russian assets. According to Shmyhal, the parties discussed the implementation of this initiative.

“It is critical for us that the funds are available to Ukraine as early as 2025 and that we have an opportunity to allocate them to all critical needs, including the military,” Shmyhal stressed.

In his words, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is introducing a systematic approach to financing economic recovery projects. Shmyhal mentioned that the first meeting of the Strategic Investment Council under the Government of Ukraine had recently been held. In the next two months, the list of public investment projects for 2025 is expected to be approved and submitted to partners.

In addition, the Prime Minister thanked the American side for announcing the provision of $500 million in new funding for energy assistance and redirecting the previously announced $324 million for emergency needs in Ukraine's energy sector. Support for the energy sector is essential for Ukraine today to restore what the enemy has destroyed, Shmyhal emphasized.

“We appreciate that the United States unwaveringly stands shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine in our struggle for freedom,” the Prime Minister concluded.

A reminder that earlier Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal called on Estonia to support the indefinite freezing of Russian assets in the European Union until Russia compensates Ukraine for the damage it has caused.
