Shahed Wreckage Found In Romania


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) In the Romanian district of Tulcea, the wreckage of a Russian-origin kamikaze drone «Geran 1/2" (Shahed) has been identified.

This is stated in a press release from the Romanian Ministry of National Defence on Thursday, 25 July, Ukrinform reports.

"With reference to the investigations initiated yesterday, on July 24th, by specialists of MoND , Romanian Intelligence Service and Ministry of Internal Affairs, we mention that, up to this moment, the remains of a Geran1/2 type-drone of Russian origin were identified at the first of the three locations identified as possible areas of incidence, in the vicinity of Plauru, Tulcea County. Search will continue today to cover the entire area. We make it clear that all the locations identified as possible areas of incidence are outside the inhabited areas, not affecting the infrastructure elements.," the ministry said.

The Ministry of Defence added that it will inform allied structures about the situation in real time.

"The Ministry of National Defence sends a firmly condemns these attacks conducted by the Russian Federation against certain objectives and infrastructure elements.," the ministry added.

It is noted that on the night of 25 July, Russian troops resumed a series of drone attacks on civilian targets and port infrastructure in Ukraine near the border with Romania.

"As a result of this situation, the Ministry of National Defence has intensified the monitoring and surveillance measures of the national airspace by engaging the Air Police Combat Service forces and means. Starting 1:32 a.m., two Finnish Air Force F-18 aircraft took off from the 57th Mihail Kogălniceanu Air Base to monitor the aerial situation. The aircraft returned to base at around 3.25am," the ministry added.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, on the night of 25 July, air alerts were declared in settlements on the Romanian side of the Danube for the second day in a row due to a massive attack by Russian Shahed drones on Ukrainian ports.
