Dubai's tourism, aviation sectors to hit historic growth in early 2024, beyond prospects

(MENAFN) The tourism and aviation sectors in Dubai experienced exceptional growth in the first quarter of 2024, reflecting a significant advancement in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. This impressive performance aligns with the objectives of the “Dubai Economic Agenda D33,” which seeks to enhance Dubai’s global standing in business and entertainment.

During the initial three months of 2024, Dubai emerged as a leader in global tourism and aviation, witnessing a substantial influx of international tourists. The city welcomed 5.18 million visitors, marking an 11 percent increase from the 4.67 million visitors recorded in the same period of 2023. This surge in tourism is attributed to several factors, including the rise in international companies establishing a presence in Dubai, business expansions, and growth in the meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) tourism sector.

Hotel establishments in Dubai also reported strong performance, with the average hotel occupancy rate reaching 83 percent. This achievement is notable given a 2 percent year-on-year increase in the number of hotel rooms, surpassing 152,000. The increase in international visitors is a result of Dubai's comprehensive strategies focusing on sustainability, entrepreneurship, and innovation, among other key factors. This progress highlights Dubai’s successful efforts to position itself as a premier global destination, reinforcing its role in the international tourism and aviation landscape.
