Palestinian man gets wounded by Israel gunfire in Tulkarem refugee camp
(MENAFN) Early this morning, the Palestine Red Crescent Society reported that a 30-year-old Palestinian man was gravely injured by Israeli gunfire in the Tulkarm refugee camp. He was quickly taken to a hospital for urgent medical care, having sustained gunshot wounds to his groin, hand, and abdomen. This incident adds to the escalating violence in the region, as it came shortly after another young Palestinian man was shot on Monday evening. The earlier shooting occurred during an Israeli raid on the city of Tulkarm, where the injured man was subsequently admitted to Thabet Thabet Government Hospital with injuries described as ranging from moderate to serious.
In the predawn hours of Tuesday, Israeli occupation forces launched a large-scale military operation in Tulkarm camp. The operation involved over 25 military vehicles, including heavy bulldozers, which entered the camp and imposed a strict siege. The forces systematically dismantled infrastructure, inflicting significant damage on the properties of the local residents. This destruction included vehicles, shops, and the strategic placement of rubble and stones at the entrances to homes, effectively sealing off the camp's narrow alleys and pathways.
The military action was concentrated in key neighborhoods such as "Qaqun, al-Balawneh, Abu al-Foul, and the schools at the northern main entrance, and the western entrance adjacent to the Muqata'a." The occupation forces blocked all entrances to the camp and the roads leading to it, indiscriminately firing at anything that moved. This aggressive strategy created an atmosphere of fear and chaos among the camp's residents.
Adding to the turmoil, Israeli forces conducted house raids in the vicinity of the camp, targeting the homes of Hakam Talib, Louay Sawan, and Fadi Sawan. These residents were subjected to invasive searches and interrogations by the military personnel. As the situation in Tulkarm remains volatile, the residents are left to deal with the devastating impact of the military operation and the ongoing tension in their community.
