Madbouly, Nana Akufo-Addo Discuss Cooperation Between Egypt, Ghana


(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) Egypt's Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met, on Sunday evening, with Nana Akufo-Addo, President of Ghana, on the sidelines of Madbouly's participation on behalf of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, in the sixth session of the mid-year coordination meeting of the African Union, which is being held in the Ghanaian capital, Accra.

During the meeting, Madbouly pointed to the depth of the historical relations that have linked the two countries since the stage of national liberation, stressing Egypt's readiness to support Ghana's needs in various areas of development, and effective coordination and consultation on many regional issues based on Ghana's pivotal role in the West African region.

The Prime Minister pointed out that 24 Egyptian companies are operating in various fields in Ghana, expressing his aspiration to benefit from the promising opportunities to develop relations between the two countries.

During the meeting, the President of Ghana welcomed the Egyptian Prime Minister, stressing the strength of relations between the two countries, and his aspiration to strengthen ties between the two sides in all fields, taking into account the important role played by Egyptian companies working in the field of mining, infrastructure and construction.

President Nana Akufo-Addo expressed his appreciation for the role of Egyptian companies working in the development fields in his country, especially through their social contributions in various Ghanaian cities and villages, in connection with his country's presidential initiatives to develop Ghanaian society.

Moreover, Madbouly also met with the Prime Minister of Algeria, Nadhir Al-Arbawi, expressing his aspiration that Al-Arbawi will visit Egypt during the coming period, enabling rich discussions to be held between the two sides on issues of common interest, stressing that to confront the current regional challenges, there is no other way but Achieving integration and unity among various Arab countries.

The Prime Minister said that in addition to political coordination, cooperation in the economic field must be strengthened in light of the current international developments. He expressed his aspiration to strengthen bilateral relations between Egypt and Algeria and raise them to the level of strategic relations.

In turn, Al-Arbawi stressed the strength of the fraternal relations that unite the two brotherly countries, stressing the importance of developing joint relations to the level of historical relations and the pivotal role that the two countries enjoy regionally and internationally, and expanding the frameworks of cooperation between Egypt and Algeria in light of the current developments witnessed by the region and the world and the consequences of these developments on all countries.

The Algerian Prime Minister also touched on the importance of cooperation in dealing with regional crises, especially the war in the Gaza Strip and the ongoing conflict in Libya and Sudan. Al-Arbawi noted the important role played by Egypt and Algeria in supporting stability in Libya through the mechanism of neighbouring countries.

During his speech at the conference, the Prime Minister pointed out that the African continent, despite the successes it has achieved over the past years in terms of development, peace and security, still faces several security, economic and development challenges, due to complex structural problems, including high rates of poverty, unemployment, In addition to the continued spread of the phenomenon of terrorism and armed conflicts in several countries, which has led to the growing severity and scope of the humanitarian crises associated with them.


Madbouly added that the last African summit last February approved the second ten-year plan for implementing the 2063 Agenda, for which the title“Accelerating the pace of implementation” was chosen, which will only be achieved through the efforts and efforts of everyone, and in cooperation with partners of African countries around the world per African priorities, to achieve the legitimate aspirations of the people of the continent for development, security and stability.
