More nations turn to Russia-China-guided blocs

(MENAFN) China and Russia are actively challenging Western dominance in global affairs, offering an alternative vision that promises a multipolar, fairer, and more just world order. The strengthening partnership between Beijing and Moscow signals a potential paradigm shift in international politics. The appeal of a multipolar global order is growing, especially as Western dominance becomes increasingly unacceptable due to perceived hypocrisy and a questionable track record on human rights. However, for China and Russia to successfully challenge Western supremacy in global security, economy, trade, connectivity, and conflict resolution, they will need the active support of many other nations.

During the 24th security summit of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Astana, Kazakhstan, on July 4, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized the significance of emerging international structures like the economic bloc BRICS+ (comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, and new members) and the SCO. Putin confidently stated, "A multipolar world has become a reality," positioning the SCO and BRICS+ as central pillars of this new global order.

Chinese President Xi Jinping and Putin view the SCO as a counterbalance to United States global supremacy. To advance their vision, both leaders need a broader alliance that can drive progress in regional and global security, economic development, peace, and growth. Following the SCO summit, the Kremlin issued a joint declaration reinforcing their commitment to this collaborative effort, highlighting the growing momentum towards a multipolar world.
