Egyptian Red Crescent Showcases Aid Efforts To Minister Morsy

(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) Egypt's Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsy on Sunday visited the headquarters of the Egyptian Red Crescent, praising the organisation's extensive humanitarian efforts both domestically and internationally.
Morsy met with Red Crescent officials and volunteers, expressing her appreciation for their“unwavering commitment” to helping those in need. She was briefed on the organisation's century-long history of providing relief during crises and its wide-ranging services, from healthcare and social programs to disaster response and refugee assistance.
The Red Crescent presented details of its operations across Egypt, including its network of branches, hospitals, blood banks, and volunteer groups. The organisation also highlighted its international aid efforts, such as the delivery of relief supplies to Syria, Turkey, and Libya following recent disasters.
In response to the ongoing Sudan crisis, the Egyptian Red Crescent has provided more than 2 million food and relief items, over 107,000 medical services, and 10,000 psychosocial support services. The organisation has also been instrumental in reuniting families separated by the conflict.
Morsy was updated on the Egyptian Red Crescent's support for the Gaza Strip since last October, including delivering 24,230 tons of aid by air, 94,410 tons by sea, and over 310,000 tons by land. The organisation has also provided health services, established camps, and set up a food supply centre in the area.
The Egyptian Red Crescent's work in Gaza was carried out in partnership with the National Alliance for Civil Development Work, civil society organisations, and international partners.
Morsy commended the Red Crescent's“pivotal role” in humanitarian work and expressed her continued support for the organisation's efforts.
