Agreement Between Kyrgyzstan, IFAD For Pastoral Communities Project Ratified


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, July 19. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov has signed a law ratifying a financing agreement for the Regional Resilient Pastoral Communities Project (RRPCP) project between Kyrgyzstan and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Trend reports.

According to the official website of the president, the agreement was signed on May 14, 2024, in Rome and approved by the Kyrgyz parliament on June 26, 2024.

Under the agreement, Kyrgyzstan will receive a grant of $9.215 million from IFAD. The funds will support vulnerable rural households that rely on pasturelands and forests for their livelihoods. This includes households involved in mobile extensive livestock farming, forest product extraction, feed production, as well as rural women and youth.

Special attention will be given to the participation of women and youth in the project.

In accordance with the agreement between the Adaptation Fund (AF) and IFAD, dated November 7, 2022, the project is financed by AF through IFAD.
