(MENAFN) Iran's Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) and Kyrgyzstan's National Investments Agency recently reached a significant milestone with the approval of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) focused on advancing development initiatives within Iran's southern ports. This momentous agreement was formally endorsed during an online meeting led by Kazem Salehi, Director General of Transit, Logistics, and Agreements at PMO.

During the virtual gathering, both sides meticulously examined and ratified the MOU's detailed provisions, placing particular emphasis on the collaborative engagement of Kyrgyzstan's private sector in the development plans for Iran's southern port facilities. Salehi disclosed that the finalized draft of the MOU is slated for formal signing, a ceremony expected to coincide with an upcoming visit by a delegation from Kyrgyzstan to Tehran.

The MOU's impending endorsement represents a significant stride towards establishing joint logistics centers strategically located in Iran's port hinterlands. This cooperative venture is poised to substantially bolster bilateral trade relations between Iran and Kyrgyzstan. Salehi highlighted the critical role of facilitating regional transit through integrated multimodal transport networks, underscoring PMO's proactive stance in welcoming neighboring and Central Asian nations to participate in Iran's ambitious port infrastructure projects.

Echoing the sentiments reflected on the Iran's Ministry of Transport and Urban Development (MRUD) website, this collaborative initiative is aligned with broader efforts to promote economic integration and deepen international cooperation in logistics and maritime sectors.
