American Congress is worried Russia possibly sharing perceptions on weapons with China

(MENAFN) A bipartisan committee in the United States congress is pressing the Biden administration to disclose whether Russia has gained insights into American-made weapons supplied to Ukraine and whether this information is being shared with China. The Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party expressed concerns that knowledge obtained by Moscow during its conflict with Ukraine could potentially be disseminated to the People's Republic of China (PRC) and other adversaries.

In a letter to National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, the committee highlighted “alarming levels of Russian adaptation” that have compromised the effectiveness of various US weapons systems. This includes not only older American military equipment but also newer technologies that have reportedly underperformed due to Russian electronic warfare tactics and countermeasures.

The lawmakers emphasized that these developments raise significant questions about the United States military and industrial base's capacity to "counter-innovate" and adapt to the evolving Russian tactics. Given the declared “no limits” partnership between Russia and China, they urged that Washington should operate under the assumption that Russia is sharing critical information about vulnerabilities and countermeasures related to American and allied weapons systems with China.

The letter also pointed out that at a recent NATO summit, US and allied leaders labeled Beijing as a “decisive enabler” of Russia's military operations in Ukraine. The lawmakers asserted that China has supplied Russia with substantial amounts of microelectronics, dual-use equipment, and imagery, as well as other resources that bolster its military capabilities. Additionally, they noted China's role in enhancing Russia's satellite and space-based operations, further complicating the security landscape in the ongoing conflict.
