Mahua Moitra Booked By Delhi Police Over 'Holding Up Boss' Pajamas' Remark Against NCW Chief Rekha Sharma

(MENAFN- Live Mint) The Delhi Police booked Trinamool congress MP Mahua Moitra on Sunday over a 'derogatory' social media post against NCW chief Rekha Sharma. The senior politician also shared her location with the police and dared them to take 'action immediately on suo moto orders'. The NCW took suo moto cognisance of the derogatory remarks made by Moitra on Friday.

“A complaint was received from the National Commission of Women, alleging that a purported repost of a tweet (on social media platform X) by TMC MP Mohua Mitra, has committed the offence under section 79, BNS-2023. Taking cognizance of the complaint and after a preliminary examination of its contents, a case FIR under section 79, BNS-2023 has been registered at PS Special Cell and an investigation has been taken up,” the Delhi Police said.

Controversy had erupted earlier this week after a video of Sharma visiting the Hathras stampede venue made the rounds on social media. The visuals shared online showed a person holding an umbrella over her head as the NCW chief walked.

“She is too busy holding up her boss's pajamas,” Moitra had jibed in a now-deleted post after another social media user wondered why Sharma could not hold her own umbrella.
