Egypt's Al-Sisi Stresses Importance Of Nile Water In Talks With Kenya's Ruto

(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi stressed the utmost importance of the Nile water issue to Egypt during talks with Kenyan President William Ruto, who affirmed his country's keenness to find consensus among all relevant parties, the Egyptian presidency said on Monday.

During a phone call addressing key regional matters, Al-Sisi detailed Egypt's firm stance on the crisis in Sudan, emphasising the need to halt the ongoing conflict and humanitarian violations, according to the official presidential spokesman, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy.

Al-Sisi voiced support for Sudan's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national institutions, noting Egypt's efforts to support endeavours aimed at restoring peace and stability. In response, Ruto commended the Egyptian role in supporting Sudan, containing regional tensions, and settling disputes across the region and the African continent.

Addressing developments in the Horn of Africa, the two leaders agreed to intensify political consultation and coordination to support regional peace and stability.

Regarding bilateral ties, Al-Sisi praised the notable development in relations between Egypt and Kenya. He highlighted the importance of continuing to enhance cooperation in various fields of mutual interest, particularly in the economic, commercial, and investment sectors, to achieve the development goals of both nations and their brotherly peoples.

Ruto agreed with Al-Sisi's assessment, praising the momentum and progress in bilateral relations. He affirmed Kenya's commitment to continuing cooperation to elevate these ties in line with their deep historical links, and expressed his hope that Al-Sisi would visit Kenya, El-Shenawy added.

The two presidents concluded the call by affirming their commitment to continuing and intensifying joint communication and coordination in the upcoming period.
