Public Enterprises Minister Prioritises Strengthening National Industry, Private Sector Partnership

In a significant move to bolster national industry and enhance private sector collaboration, Mohamed Shimi, the new Minister of Public Enterprises Sector, convened an extensive meeting with the heads of the ministry's affiliated holding companies on Saturday. The meeting focused on critical aspects of their operations, spanning diverse fields such as metallurgy, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, textiles, construction, tourism, and hotels.
During the meeting, Shimi and the company leaders delved into key performance indicators, business results, sales volumes, and export figures. They also discussed ongoing projects across various sectors, future strategic visions, major investment opportunities, and the challenges faced by these companies.
Shimi underscored the ministry's commitment to continuous improvement and development. To achieve this, the ministry plans to establish targeted training programs for human resources, refine marketing policies to boost sales and exports, and foster stronger partnerships with the private sector in alignment with the State Ownership Policy Document. Additionally, Shimi highlighted the ongoing execution of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) program within the holding and subsidiary companies. This comprehensive program aims to enhance production, financial management, and administrative processes through automation and optimization.
The Minister stressed the importance of maximizing returns from the companies' owned assets, managing and investing them optimally to achieve maximum benefits. He underscored the necessity of enhancing governance and transparency standards, reducing expenses, intensifying efforts to implement reform plans, regularly monitoring company performance, supporting national industry, localizing modern technologies, and increasing production to meet local market needs and export to foreign markets.
Additionally, adherence to regular maintenance programs was emphasized. Shimi also mentioned conducting visits and field tours to factories and various work and production sites to monitor progress and address any obstacles hindering project implementation.
