(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The set of professional and personal qualities of Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas, who has been nominated for the post of EU High Representative, suggests that she and the newly appointed NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte will form a powerful tandem against Russian aggression.
This opinion was expressed to Ukrinform by Estonian expert, diplomat, and Political journalist Harri Tiido.
Analyzing Kaja Kallas' professional strengths, as well as some of her flaws, Tiido concludes that she can become a much more visible and bright high representative of the EU than her predecessor (Josep Borrell) "or even all her predecessors." Therefore, it is hoped that, together with Mark Rutte as head of NATO, Kallas will form "a powerful tandem against the war in Ukraine and Russia's aggressive behavior."
"As Prime Minister of Estonia, Kallas was strong on the international stage, and at home she was often criticized. But it seems that it is in the position of EU High Representative that she is "the right person in the right place at the right time." Of course, if it is approved by the European Parliament (at the first session of the newly elected composition on July 16-19 - ed.)," Tiido said.

In his opinion, Kallas' strengths are a broad awareness of international affairs, quick reaction, determination, good command of several foreign languages, and frankness. At the same time, the expert notes that sometimes Kallas' reaction speed and frankness seem a bit excessive.
At the same time, being a successful lawyer in the past, she is good at negotiating. Therefore, it will be able to find compromise solutions in the interests of the European Union. And having obtained them, to formulate and modify the achieved point of view as constructively and correctly as possible - for the common good.
At the same time, as a lawyer, Kallas is well aware of the limits of his role, his functionality. Also, according to the expert, more frequent and systematic work on regions that have not yet been on her current agenda – Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Latin America – will not be a problem for the future EU High Representative.
