Turkish benchmark stock index increases 1 percent at Tuesday


(MENAFN) On Tuesday, Türkiye's benchmark stock index, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100, closed at 10,446.24 points, marking a 1 percent increase from its opening level of 10,354.95 points earlier in the day. The index gained 102.93 points compared to Monday's closing figure, with a robust daily transaction volume reaching 76 billion liras (USD2.33 billion).

During the trading session, the price of gold per ounce stood at USD2,334.10, while Brent crude oil prices hovered around USD86.69 per barrel as of 6:49 p.m. local time (1549GMT). Concurrently, the exchange rates against the Turkish lira were 32.5622 for the US dollar, 35.0208 for the euro, and 41.3605 for the British pound.

In June alone, the BIST 100 index recorded a monthly gain of 2.38 percent, underscoring its resilience and positive trajectory in the financial markets. Since the beginning of the year, the index has surged by an impressive 42.54 percent, outpacing several major global indices.

The strong performance of Türkiye's stock market reflects investor confidence and positive sentiment amidst economic developments and market dynamics. The significant gains observed in both monthly and year-to-date figures highlight Türkiye's robust economic resilience and potential as a promising investment destination in the global financial landscape.
