Dubai Airport maintains number one position globally in scheduled seat capacity
(MENAFN) According to the latest monthly report from OAG, Dubai International Airport has retained its leading position globally in terms of scheduled seat capacity on international flights for July. The report indicates that the total number of scheduled seats departing from Dubai International Airport reached 5.12 million this month, marking an increase from 4.9 million seats in July of the previous year. This growth of over 200,000 seats reflects Dubai Airport's robust expansion efforts, including the attraction of new airlines and expansions by key carriers like Emirates Airlines and Flydubai.
London Heathrow Airport secured the second position in the rankings, with more than 4.2 million scheduled seats, followed by Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport in third place with 3.63 million seats. Amsterdam Airport in the Netherlands and Seoul Airport rounded out the top five with approximately 3.61 million and 3.58 million seats, respectively. Singapore Airport followed closely in sixth place with 3.5 million seats, while Istanbul Airport recorded 3.4 million seats.
In terms of total seat capacity encompassing both international and domestic flights, Dubai International Airport ranked second globally after Hartsfield Atlanta Airport in the United States, which recorded 5.6 million scheduled seats in July. Dallas Fort Worth International Airport secured third place with 4.79 million seats, closely followed by Tokyo Airport in Japan with about 4.7 million seats across international and domestic routes.
Dubai Airport's sustained leadership underscores its pivotal role as a major hub connecting passengers globally, supported by continuous enhancements in infrastructure and airline partnerships to meet growing travel demands.
