Tourism Industry Contributes 4Pc In Bangladesh's GDP: Minister

Dhaka: The tourism industry contributed four per cent in Bangladesh's gross domestic product and 1.78 per cent in employment generation, said Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Muhammad Faruk Khan on July 2.
Since its establishment in 1972, Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation has been providing local and foreign tourists with various services, Faruk Khan informed the parliament while replying to a question from treasury bench member AFM Bahauddin Nasim with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.
BPC established a total of 53 tourism related structures including hotels, motels, resorts, restaurants, amusement parks, bars, picnic spots and duty-free shops in different areas of the country to attract tourists.
“All of these tourist structures were being operated by Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation with professionalism and these contribute a lot in the tourism sector,” added the Minister.
He further informed, BPC also promotes the country worldwide through various publicity initiatives and publications on renowned tourist places of the country.
