'Inside Out 2' becomes first animated film to reach historic Box Office achievement

(MENAFN) Walt Disney Co. announced on Sunday that the revenues for the second installment of the animated film "Inside Out," produced by its subsidiary Pixar, have surpassed one billion dollars worldwide. Remarkably, the film achieved this milestone in less than three weeks since its global release, making it the first animated film ever to reach such high revenues within this short timeframe. Additionally, Disney highlighted that the film is the highest-grossing release of any year and the only animated film to cross the USD1 billion mark so quickly.

In North America, "Inside Out 2" continued its dominance at the box office, holding the top spot for the third consecutive week, according to figures from Exhibitor Relations. The animated feature grossed USD57.4 million between Friday and Sunday, bringing its total revenue in the United States and Canada to USD469 million since its release. The original film, released in 2015, explored the thoughts and emotions of a young girl and was a significant success at the time. The sequel revisits the protagonist, Riley, now a teenager grappling with new emotions such as anxiety and envy. The first film grossed USD90 million during its opening weekend in the summer of 2015, with total worldwide revenues amounting to USD858.8 million.
