Israeli foreign minister condemns Iran's threats, vows strong response to Hizbullah

(MENAFN) Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz strongly condemned Iran's recent threat of "war of annihilation" against Israel in response to potential large-scale military actions in Lebanon. Katz, expressing Israel's stance on the matter, asserted that a regime issuing threats of destruction deserves to face consequences. His remarks were conveyed via the X platform, where he emphasized Israel's readiness to defend itself robustly against any threats to its security.

The escalating rhetoric follows Iran's statement through its mission to the United Nations, warning of dire consequences if Israel initiates a "full-scale military aggression" in Lebanon. The Iranian message suggested that such actions would provoke a "war of extermination." In response, Katz reiterated Israel's resolve, affirming that Israel would employ all necessary measures to counter the Iran-aligned Hezbollah group. He stressed that Israel expects Hezbollah to cease its attacks from Lebanon into Israeli territory and withdraw from the border area immediately.

Katz's statements underscore Israel's firm stance on national security and its commitment to defending against any threats posed by Iran and its proxies. The ongoing tensions highlight the volatile geopolitical dynamics in the region, where military posturing and diplomatic maneuvers continue to shape the discourse between Israel and its adversaries.
