KUWAIT, June 28 (KUNA) --
1948 -- Kuwait ruler sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah signs an agreement with the American independent oil company, which was registered in the State of Delaware, granting it concessions to explore and drill for natural gas and crude oil in the neutral zone, known as Kuwait-Saudi zone. The company had the right to own, produce, sell and export for 60 years.
1960 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah signs a law on monitoring and use of drugs in Kuwait.
1966 -- Kuwait Deputy Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah signs a law to establish the Public Authority for the South and Arabian Gulf. The Kuwait-based authority, affiliated with the Foreign Ministry, aimed at developing areas of the south and Arabian Gulf.
1970 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah signs a law to impose income tax on oil companies.
1990 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah signs a decree appointing members of the National Council, which was established on April 22. The Amir appointed 25 persons including five ministers.
2004 -- State of Kuwait announced restoration of diplomatic relations with Iraq after the authority in Baghdad was transferred to the Iraqi people.
2010 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah signs a decree paving way for Kuwait's contribution of USD 500 million to finance small and medium-size enterprizes in the Arab countries. The amount was withdrawn from the State General Reserve.
2010 -- A Kuwaiti team of surgeons conducts the first aortic artery installment operation through catheterization.
2010 -- State of Kuwait donates GBP 1.5 million to renovate and develop the Tank Museum in Dorset, South West England. The Museum consisted of tanks and royal armored vehicles, which took part in the war of liberation of Kuwait from Iraq in 1991.
2011 -- Kuwait Environment Protection Society, European Argos satellite agency and NASA sign an agreement to monitor biological diversity in Kuwait.
2016 -- Kuwait Ministry of Interior signs an agreement with the British G4S company to provide security for Kuwait International Airport.
2017 -- State of Kuwait wins membership of Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission following tough elections.
2019 -- Kuwaiti engineer Jenan Al-Shahab wins the gold medal for its electromagnetic cells for wireless electricity transmission invention. The award was granted by Britain-based global network of woman innovators. (end) 2021 -- The Cabinet allows Kuwaiti citizens, their immediate family members and their housemaids, who received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccination to cross the borders from 29 June.
2021 -- The Cabinet announces opening land and marine borders to those who had received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccination, starting August 1.
2022 -- The Environment Public Authority and Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research sign an agreement to execute a project on developing marine environment protection systems. (end) ag
