Secondary School Certificate Final Exam Results Announced

Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education yesterday announced the results of government secondary school certificate final exams for the academic year 2023-24.

Six students secured full marks and the equal number of the students obtained 99.94 percent. A total of 13,920 students appeared in the exams, a huge 8,272 students out of them secured an average above 70 percent, which is four percent higher compared to the last year.

Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi approved the results of the secondary school certificate. After the approval, a press conference was held at the headquarters of the ministry.

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi, Assistant Undersecretary for Evaluation Affairs Khalid Al Harqan and Director of Public Relations and Communication Department Maryam Al Muhannadi attended the press conference.

Announcing the results, Khalid Al Harqan said that the passing rate of students in science track is recorded 85.52 percent for day schools and 20.45 percent for adult education.

However, he said, in arts and humanities track, passing rate of day school is 79.64 percent and adult education is 42.21 percent.

“The passing rate of students in technology track is recorded 75.47 percent. Students of Qatar Science and Technology Secondary School for Boys secured 100 percent passing rate,” said Khalid Al Harqan.

He said that the Religious Institute Secondary School for Boys recorded 97.14 percent passing rate.“In Qatar Technical Secondary School for Boys, the day school registered 84.14 percent passing rate and adult education 11.76 percent. Qatar Banking Studies and Business Administration Secondary School secured 100 percent passing rate.”

He said that the schools for hearing and speech got 60 percent passing rate and adult education in the parallel track registered 38.36 percent passing rate.

For his part, Director of Student Evaluation Department at the MoEHE Ibrahim Abdullah Al Muhannadi said that the work of the examination control for the general secondary certificate was a great challenge, as it lasted for 12 hours a day divided into two periods, in which 158 supervisors participated across all academic subjects.

He added that the exams were held in 79 centres, stressing that the students' answer sheets pass through 22 teachers, supervisors and experts to ensure students' full rights.

He also pointed out that the exams are developed in a scientific manner that takes into account the interest of the student and that the results reflect the quality of the work.

Al Muhannadi thanked the work team who made a great effort during the final results, as the results showed the accuracy of the correction process and the high success rate in the subjects that were the subject of complaints by some students.

He said that the Arabic language and physics subjects registered high passing rates, reaching 98.71% for the Arabic language scientific track and 88.12% for the physics subject.

The Director of the Student Evaluation Department said that the normal time is three hours for exam, and it was reduced to an hour and a half during the COVID-19 pandemic and now it has returned to the usual time in a way that serves the students' interest.

Students and parents can get the results by entering the personal number and date of birth or by entering the personal number and seat number through the“Maaref” portal for public services of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
