DPIIT Engages Industry Players On Ease Of Doing Business Agenda
The discussions centred around three primary agenda items: the Jan Vishwas Bill 2.0, the national single window system, and the World Bank's forthcoming Business Ready Index.
Regarding the Jan Vishwas Bill 2.0, the DPIIT solicited recommendations from stakeholders on provisions to be included in the second iteration of the legislation.
Last year, the initial Jan Vishwas Act amended 42 existing laws across 19 ministries, decriminalising minor, procedural, and technical offenses in 183 provisions related to various business areas.
The meeting also addressed the national single window system, which aims to streamline clearances and approvals for businesses through a unified online platform.
Several states have already integrated with this system, allowing entrepreneurs to file and track applications without visiting multiple government offices.
Additionally, the upcoming Business Ready Index, set to be launched in September by the World Bank, was discussed.
This new report will benchmark the business environment and investment climate across economies worldwide, replacing the bank's previous Doing Business Report.
The Index will assess the regulatory framework, public services directed at firms, and the efficiency of their implementation.
Officials from various departments participated in the deliberations alongside industry representatives and the DPIIT, underscoring the collaborative approach to enhancing the ease of doing business in the country.
