Aqaba Launches Plastic-Free Cleanliness Campaign During Eid
(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency)
Aqaba, June 17 (Petra) -- The Environment Commission of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority has launched a campaign titled "Aqaba is Plastic-Free" during the Eid al-Adha holiday, targeting border and customs crossings and public beaches.
The campaign seeks to enhance environmental protection by distributing awareness leaflets on the importance of maintaining cleanliness in public spaces to visitors arriving in Aqaba during the holiday.
The campaign kicked off today at the Wadi Al-Yatam Center, distributing eco-friendly cloth bags to drivers entering the city to encourage proper waste disposal and reduce littering. These bags will also be handed out at public beaches and commercial markets throughout Eid.
The initiative is a collaborative effort involving the Environmental Protection Police, the "Urbaser" company responsible for Aqaba's cleanliness, and volunteers from youth groups at the Princess Basma Center, the "Haqiq" Initiative, the Leave a Trace Initiative, and the We Are All Jordan Youth Commission.
