Azerbaijani Minister Of Health Holds Number Of Bilateral Meetings Within 77Th Session Of World Health Assembly (PHOTO)


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 30. The 77th session ofthe World Health Assembly continues its work at the headquarters ofthe World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva, Switzerland,Trend reports.

The delegation headed by Azerbaijani Health Minister TeymurMusayev held several bilateral meetings during the session.

“Thus, a meeting was held with the director of the World HealthOrganization's European Regional Office, Hans Henry Kluge.

Meetings were also held with delegations headed by the Ministerof Health of Türkiye Fahrettin Koca; the Acting Minister of Healthof Uzbekistan, Asilbek Khudayarov; and the Minister of PublicHealth of Cuba, José Angel Portal Miranda; the Minister of Healthof Kazakhstan, Akmaral Alnazarova; the Minister of Health ofKyrgyzstan, Alymkadyr Beishenaliev; and the Minister of Health ofthe Netherlands, Pia Dijkstra. Besides, bilateral meetings wereheld with Lucica Ditiu, Executive Director of the Stop TBPartnership; Mark Edington, Head of Grant Management at the GlobalFund; and Jan-Willem Scheijgrond, Vice President, Global Directorof Government and Community Engagement at Royal Philips.

At the meetings, first of all, congratulations were addressed tothe Azerbaijani delegation on the occasion of the Independence Dayof the Republic and the holding of the 29th session of theConference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on ClimateChange (COP29) in our country. Additionally, noting the importanceof such a prestigious event as COP29, it was emphasized thatAzerbaijan always accepts and organizes international events at thehighest level with dignity.

Moreover, it was noted that our country attaches greatimportance to cooperation with specialized international healthorganizations, including the World Health Organization. Confidencewas expressed that initiatives of great importance for the healthof citizens will be successfully implemented in the future.

During the meetings held with the ministers of Turkic-speakingcountries, the exceptional role of the heads of state in thedevelopment of friendly relations between our peoples wasemphasized. Besides, there is great potential for the developmentof relationships in the field of health care.

The sides noted the importance of the“Uzbek-Azerbaijani Decadeof Health Care” organized in Tashkent and timed to the 100thanniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev's birth, within theframework of which Azerbaijani medical specialists, jointly withUzbek colleagues, conducted more than 100 surgical operations was also expressed in the application of Kazakhstan'sexperience in the field of accreditation and quality control ofmedical institutions in our country. The experience of digitalsolutions applied by Azerbaijan in the field of healthcare inrecent years is of great interest to Kazakhstan. Prospects ofAzerbaijan-Kazakhstan cooperation in the field of biologicalsecurity were also discussed. Useful discussions were held oncooperation with Kyrgyzstan in the field of transplantology and thepossibilities of applying Azerbaijan's successful experience inthis direction.

Noting the importance of the Azerbaijan-Cuba Memorandum ofUnderstanding on cooperation in the field of healthcare and medicalscience, it was emphasized that the document will play an importantrole in improving the healthcare capacity of our countries. At thesame time, the healthcare system of the Netherlands, due to thecombination of highly qualified doctors and modern medicalfacilities, is rightfully considered one of the best in Europe.

The measures taken towards the elimination of malaria inAzerbaijan were highly appreciated during the meetings's successful implementation of programs to combatinfectious diseases, including tuberculosis, was emphasized.

A wide range of opinions on the application of high-tech medicalequipment in the health care of Azerbaijan and other issues ofmutual interest were discussed at the meetings,” the informationsaid.
