Assistance To Azerbaijan In Field Of Mine Clearance Was Discussed In Geneva


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 30. In Geneva, at ameeting of the Mine Action Support Group, which is the coordinationformat of donor countries in the field of mine clearance, the issueof increasing assistance to Azerbaijan in this direction wasdiscussed, Trend reports.

Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and theAzerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA), who took partin the meeting, informed the meeting participants about the scaleof destruction caused by Armenia in our country and the problem oflandmines, victims of mine incidents, and successes achieved by ourcountry in the field of mine clearance, necessary foreignassistance and international activities of Azerbaijan in the fieldof the mine problem.

It was brought to attention that it is necessary to provideadequate external support for the return of Azerbaijanis to theirnative land, carrying out restoration and reconstruction work inthe territories liberated from occupation, as well as the speedyelimination of the mine problem, which directly affects the safetyof the population.

During the meeting, it was emphasized that this assistance canhelp development, peace and reconciliation as a condition ofhumanitarian solidarity.

At the event, there was also an exchange of views on certainaspects of the mine problem in our country and an agreement wasreached to continue discussions in order to resolve problems onthis issue.
