(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 16. Recently, astructure named Lemkin Institute for the Prevention of Genocide hasbeen regularly opposing Azerbaijan, the statement of the WesternAzerbaijan Community (WAC) said, Trend reports.
''The activity of this institution, which turns a blind eye tothe fact that there is not a sole Azerbaijani in Armenia, as wellas the numerous acts of genocide committed by this state, which haskept the territory of Azerbaijan under occupation for almost 30years, consists, it can be said, solely of vilifying Azerbaijan,''the statement says.
The Community noted that the genuine reasons for the zeal ofthis fictitious institution become known with a scrutiny of theinformation published in open sources about its "activities".
"This "institute", financed by the fraudster Ruben Vardanyan andanother fraudster Nubar Afyan, who are under investigation inAzerbaijan on charges of financing terrorism, is a group of hiredscribblers. Not surprisingly, radical elements of the Armeniandiaspora, such as Poghosyan and Mirzoyan, are represented in theorganization. The Western Azerbaijan Community strongly condemnsthe slander of Azerbaijan by these circles and the abuse of thename of Professor Rafael Lemkin (1900-1959), who played animportant role in the formation of the international struggleagainst genocide, to carry out these heinous actions. The communityurges states, international organizations, and civil society tofight such disinformation campaigns conducted by radical Armeniannationalist circles," the statement of the WAC stressed.
