(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) WASHINGTON, U.S., April 15. The Spring Meetingsof the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group(WBG) have kicked off in Washington D.C., Trend reports from theevent venue.
The main ministerial meetings and events will take place April17-19 with other events and activities taking place during theweek, April 15-20.
At the heart of the gathering are meetings of the jointDevelopment Committee and the IMF's International Monetary andFinancial Committee, which discuss progress on the work of theWorld Bank Group and the IMF. Also featured are seminars, regionalbriefings, press conferences, and other events focused on theglobal economy, international development, and the world'sfinancial markets.
The Spring Meetings bring together central bankers, ministers offinance and development, parliamentarians, private sectorexecutives, representatives from civil society organizations andacademics to discuss issues of global concern, including the worldeconomic outlook, poverty eradication, economic development, andaid effectiveness.
Among other things, the Spring Meetings will focus on the returnof industrial policy, building tax capacity in developingcountries, presentation of the World Economic Outlook, GlobalFinancial Stability Report, energy subsidy reforms, Consequencesfrom Geo-Economic Fragmentation on Financial Stability in OpenEconomies - Central Bank's Perspectives from Europe and Asia.
The event will also feature seminars on global economy andcapital flow and growth.
