Armenia Acknowledges Its Fault For Border Shootout With Azerbaijan


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 12. The State SecurityService of Armenia accused the Armenian border guards of violatingthe rules, which led to a shootout, Trend reports via Armenianmedia.

The media said that a criminal case has been initiated into anapparent violation by border guards of a number of rules ofmilitary service.

As the State Security Service noted, on April 10, a conscriptsoldier of the service's border troops, having learned that ashepherd and his herd had gotten lost and ended up on Azerbaijaniterritory, together with his colleagues“decided to cross theborder without permission and return the cattle, thereby violatingthe rules of service, which "negligently caused significant damage,led to a wanton shooting, and endangered the lives and health ofpeople".

Previously, the State Border Service of Azerbaijan said that onApril 10, around 15:20, it was discovered that two individuals fromthe direction of Nerkin Khnzoresk village of Armenia, opposite thepositions of the frontier troops of the State Border Servicelocated in Jijimli settlement of Azerbaijan's Gubadli district,violated the state border, crossing approximately 300 meters intoAzerbaijani territory with about 200 heads of small livestock.

The border guard of the Azerbaijani State Border Servicepreventing the violation of the state border was fired from acombat post of the Armenian Armed Forces, as a result of whichSenior Lieutenant Rovshan Mammadov was wounded.

The serviceman was immediately evacuated to a medicalfacility.
